As I sit at the magnificent desk he made me for my eleventh birthday, tapping this out on my keyboard, it is 11:00 on Dec 31, 1992. The end of a year and the beginning of a brand new one.

Grandpa Jesaitis made this desk that holds my keyboard. He died this year of 1992. And I miss him. And I regret not saying alot of things to him. And I wish he could have met my son. I wish I had told him how important so many things that he gave to me are.

Here it is approaching midnight on New Years Eve 1992 and I happened to look over and see this desk and I remembered a New Year’s Eve from many years ago. I must have been 12 or 13 years old .We lived in the valley, in a nice new tract home.

Grandpa was visiting, and as the count down began, Grandpa ran to the kitchen and grabbed the straw broom and swept from the family room all the way down the hall, opening the double front door (I thought that second door was for looks only or to move big furniture) and swept out that front door saying, “sweep out the old year to let the new year in”!

I regret not telling him how liberating that was. Maybe not as much then, but God, now, how I want to grab that broom at midnight and sweep for all I am worth.
